Franklin was nice growing up in that community, but all the farms were bought off and turned into cheap subdivisions. High taxes too. I totally agree about the Mad-city folks. The comment about Mantle & Mays is one selective statistic. Mays was by far the greater of the two as evidenced by his superior overall play and lifetime statistics including HRs, RBIs, Stolen bases, hits, doubles, triples, etc. additionally you will see that Mantle’s at bats far exceeded May’s. All in all, I don’t think this is a viable comparison you would want to use as documentation of one’s case! Mantle was a great player and who knows how great he could have been sans the knee injury he sustained early in his career and the drinking problem throughout, but he wasn’t as good as Mays.

Last night I was watching the NFL's 49ers take on the Atlanta Falcons. At the end of the game 3 49ers were interviewed. One white dude and two black dudes. One of the black dudes could barely speak. As I was watching the pathetic excuse for an entertaining football game I observed a commercial advertisement for the new Hyundai Palisade SUV. In every scene the people pictured as drivers and watchers were black people. Once scene include a group of at least 20 people looking from an outdoor cafe where they were sipping their lattees and eating their pastries as the new Palisade passed by. Not a single white person was in the advertisement. I know because I paused it and looked closer. Not one. So, who is Hyundai marketing to here? Generally speaking a Hyundai Palisade will cost a buyer somewhere in the range of $50,000. Black people make up 12% of the population and of that 12% how many black people out there can afford the monthly payment on a luxury SUV?

It's a real head-scratcher to me, as well. I remember a few incidents...my boyfriend dragging me kicking and screaming to see the first Star Wars (that I hated) film. Not long after that, feeling utter disgust for a friend telling me how much he loved "Mork and Mindy". My four siblings being such hardcore "Trekkies" they went to a Star Trek convention in 1976...and I've never even seen one episode. I finally know now, why I always had such a viseral reaction to pop-culture. And it gets harder and harder to avoid. I remember bitching to friends more than 30 years ago how angry I was that I knew the names of celebrities (even though I didn't know what they looked like or what they were famous for) and how irritated I was to be forced to listen to pop music wherever I went in public. Vacuous is the perfect word. There is a reason why it's so hard to avoid.
I have never watched more than 2 or 3 minutes of any of the above, and even then it was only in passing and by chance.. None of it ever interested me in the least and I've always had an aversion to fiction and fantasy. Besides that, I've always had so many interests that I have no concept of being bored.

Racism is taught. When I was 12 we went to a Baptist church to see, we were Catholics. My Mom's secretary was black, it was where her family worshipped. What a difference in the two services Mass and the Baptist celebration! I loved it and as a young musician was exposed to so much joy and music. It lead to me being asked to jam with a group of musicians that would gather in the park at the LA Coliseum most old enough to be my Dad. We were the only white folks there.
I went each Sunday for about 4 weeks. Not once did anyone give our family anything but love for being there.
I went on to play with many Black musicians throughout my career and when I later went into TV and Film Production I ended that career on two of the most popular TV shows that had 90% Black casts. All great memories and experiences.

However, we were not taught, as children, to automatically see color and jump to conclusions but were taught by my parents and family to base decisions on the person, not their skin color. Well done. I left my "Home Town" in the 90's when it built public housing and imported hundreds of negroes from Detroit to fill them. We are now 100 miles away and they are starting to creep into the local neighborhoods bringing crime and trash of all kinds. What you are doing here is chronicling an operation that goes back to at least the War of Northern Aggression. (Did the Jewish Slave Traders know what the ultimate end of their efforts back in the late 1700's would be..... hmmmmm...) The "Civil War", of course, destroyed a society. Simultaneously, the upward bound moved to suburbia. The combination caused property values to plummet and unleashed a total collapse of whole precincts.

There's a real lot of truth in your article. I don't believe we have any "bad" races of people. I don't think any mainstream religions are bad either, although I will allow that there is a lot of room for opinions to vary on that. We do however have a lot of people raised poorly, prejudiced behaviors and opinions kind of bred into them. A lot of society's problems could be eliminated with better parenting on the part of all people.

Donald, I quit watching any videos of negroes, it is part of the fatigue set-in process. I found fatigue living in SE Wisconsin, between the knuckle dragging in Milwaukee, to the liberals who run the state cow towing to every welfare momma, it just got old.
We moved to where there was virtually zero negroes, not the only reason we moved, and the first five years were sublime. After convid, we started noting the church, the wonderful church, started with the “we love immigrants” bullshit all over our metro.
Well, now I can see negroes everyday in a town I couldn’t see 5-a-year back in 2019. Some drive fancy cars, from where who knows, my guess is .gov or the church.

Franklin was nice growing up in that community, but all the farms were bought off and turned into cheap subdivisions. High taxes too. I totally agree about the Mad-city folks. Can't even drive the freeway thru that town as everyone acts like they own the roads, so my trip plans include mostly side roads. The FIBs aren't everywhere, mostly around the lakes and especially Door Cnty which they've ruined. A guy I work with owns a condo on Eagle Lake, he said he is the only Wisconsinsite on that lake.
In 1971, I was the only white audio-visual assistant in my very well-integrated high school. We used to listen to music during lunch hour. One day, I brought in my copy of Grand Funk Railroad's Closer to Home album. One of the black assistants was surprised to see it, because he believed that they were black. He was surprised to learn that they were three white guys. He subsequently invited me to sit in with his brother's band. I did so, and a good time was had by all. The next day, I asked him if they wanted to do it again, and they were very much in favor of that. Unfortunately the parents of the musician in whose basement the jam session took place didn't want a "white boy" in their house. My race was totally irrelevant to all of the musicians, but not to their bigoted parents.

The comment about Mantle & Mays is one selective statistic. Mays was by far the greater of the two as evidenced by his superior overall play and lifetime statistics including HRs, RBIs, Stolen bases, hits, doubles, triples, etc. additionally you will see that Mantle’s at bats far exceeded May’s. All in all, I don’t think this is a viable comparison you would want to use as documentation of one’s case! Mantle was a great player and who knows how great he could have been sans the knee injury he sustained early in his career and the drinking problem throughout, but he wasn’t as good as Mays.
You have to give heavy weight to Mantle's knee issues, Mento. When he came up, he was reportedly the fastest man in baseball. He was also initially a fantastic fielder. I believe I said Mays was the better of the two as a baseball player…this would mean overall player and would include defense. Not many baseball aficionados would believe Mantle was the “better overall” player, except perhaps,Yankee fans.

I just responded that Mantle was the superior offensive player...and he was. If Mays takes the nod defensively, then there's obviously an argument to be made here. When it counted, Mays embarrassed himself in the playoffs. The cucked media will only talk about his great catch against Vic Wertz because that's all he's got. Mantle shined in World Series play and made a spectacular catch to help save Larson's perfect game. Only he had the blazing speed to make that play.

Last night I was watching the NFL's 49ers take on the Atlanta Falcons. At the end of the game 3 49ers were interviewed. One white dude and two black dudes. One of the black dudes could barely speak. As I was watching the pathetic excuse for an entertaining football game I observed a commercial advertisement for the new Hyundai Palisade SUV. In every scene the people pictured as drivers and watchers were black people. Once scene include a group of at least 20 people looking from an outdoor cafe where they were sipping their lattees and eating their pastries as the new Palisade passed by. Not a single white person was in the advertisement. I know because I paused it and looked closer. Not one. So, who is Hyundai marketing to here? Generally speaking a Hyundai Palisade will cost a buyer somewhere in the range of $50,000. Black people make up 12% of the population and of that 12% how many black people out there can afford the monthly payment on a luxury SUV?
Someone at the top of these companies is making the decision to exclude all white people from their advertisements and direct the ads exclusively at black people. However, black people are not the ones that are able to purchase their lousy product. Needless to say, I won't purchase a Hyundai. Ever.

I still marvel and thank goodness that I was also repelled by pop-"culture" from the start. How so many people eagerly participate in such pathetic vacuity, even into old age, fascinates me endlessly.
It's a real head-scratcher to me, as well. I remember a few incidents...my boyfriend dragging me kicking and screaming to see the first Star Wars (that I hated) film. Not long after that, feeling utter disgust for a friend telling me how much he loved "Mork and Mindy". My four siblings being such hardcore "Trekkies" they went to a Star Trek convention in 1976...and I've never even seen one episode. I finally know now, why I always had such a viseral reaction to pop-culture. And it gets harder and harder to avoid. I remember bitching to friends more than 30 years ago how angry I was that I knew the names of celebrities (even though I didn't know what they looked like or what they were famous for) and how irritated I was to be forced to listen to pop music wherever I went in public. Vacuous is the perfect word. There is a reason why it's so hard to avoid.
I have never watched more than 2 or 3 minutes of any of the above, and even then it was only in passing and by chance.. None of it ever interested me in the least and I've always had an aversion to fiction and fantasy. Besides that, I've always had so many interests that I have no concept of being bored.

I hope for the former situation but feel certain groups are attempting to engineer the latter scenario.

Racism is taught. When I was 12 we went to a Baptist church to see, we were Catholics. My Mom's secretary was black, it was where her family worshipped. What a difference in the two services Mass and the Baptist celebration! I loved it and as a young musician was exposed to so much joy and music. It lead to me being asked to jam with a group of musicians that would gather in the park at the LA Coliseum most old enough to be my Dad. We were the only white folks there.
I went each Sunday for about 4 weeks. Not once did anyone give our family anything but love for being there.
I went on to play with many Black musicians throughout my career and when I later went into TV and Film Production I ended that career on two of the most popular TV shows that had 90% Black casts. All great memories and experiences.
I do realize my experiences were very wonderful and are not the norm for someone else. However, we were not taught, as children, to automatically see color and jump to conclusions but were taught by my parents and family to base decisions on the person, not their skin color. We were also a very conservative family, just for reference.

The disenfranchised former slaves migrated to the Northern Industrial Cities where they relatively good jobs and integrated well for the time being. Then came the period after World War One, when especially the Great Depression stoked fierce competition for jobs, and both Blacks and Catholics were demonized by organizations like the Klan, which forced them to congregate in ghettos. But back in the day, a ghetto was not synonymous with a slum. I did not get a lot of pushback. But, I worked in small county schools as opposed to big city milieus. However, it was equally disturbing to see coaches, black and white, allow the ghetto speech patterns with their teams in order to be considered, “cool”.

There's a real lot of truth in your article. I don't believe we have any "bad" races of people. I don't think any mainstream religions are bad either, although I will allow that there is a lot of room for opinions to vary on that. We do however have a lot of people raised poorly, prejudiced behaviors and opinions kind of bred into them. A lot of society's problems could be eliminated with better parenting on the part of all people.
