He never even apologized when his mistake on payroll caused my dad to have to fork over a 150k fine to the state.

I cut ties with them 35 years ago, and it's hard to get info about their lives because they don't do social media, but I suspect they are still fighting amoungst themselves about the properties they have recently inherited. I doubt they will be enjoying their piles of vast wealth for long though. They all took multiple death jabs.
My observation is that gluttony and sloth are the major sins of America 2.0. Maybe it's lust, but that would be something I don't know about, living a life totally removed from that. What I DO see is the obsession with stuffing one's face. Lines out the door at food joints. It used to be just fast food and restaurants. Now it's separate stores to buy cookies, cakes, corn dogs...you name it. Candy bars in pet stores and hardware stores. And most telling of all, mobile food cart pods EVERYWHERE...even one at the end of my road. When my dad bought this property in 1974, everyone on this road had cattle/horses. If someone had shown me a vision of food carts here, back then...I would have dismissed it as the wildest fantasy...and anyway...I never even saw a food cart in my state until the nineties.
I only consume local media for weather and traffic reports...but that doesn't spare me from seeing daily headlines about food. Headline stories are now about how a new fast food outlet is being built, a restaurant closing, etc. The Oregonian used to do a weekly insert called: Food Day. They dropped it, because now every day is food day. The sloth I see is people who refuse to do the daily maintenance on their homes, yards and bodies that we all used to do without thinking. Certainly, I am the only one in my neighborhood who does their own yard work. The ultimate in the gluttony/sloth combo, are the millions of Americans who daily order poisonous, processed food, delivered to them at home, so they don't have to interrupt their day of video games and movie streaming. Dear Lord, deliver me from this cess pit.

Odd isn't it? At seventy two I still cut and split my own firewood. Most of the food on my table I either grow or hunt. I too still maintain my own property. The cell phone addicts accuse me of ruining their environment by heating my home in the winter with wood. I am a beast because I hunt innocent forest animals for food. I'm putting some poor immigrant out of work by doing everything around my home by myself. They vacuously sit staring at their little idiot boxes and contributing nothing to life. They condemn oil and mining not even thinking of what those little devices or made from. My husband and I also do all of our lawn work and yard work. Our neighbors have completely quit coming outside for any reason other than a quick trip to the mailbox. Why? I suspect that they simply feel lousy from the shots and from the toxic food. Everyone appears to be aging very quickly-- at least in our neighborhood. I feel very sorry for them. Something is definitely happened because why would they change from people that used to enjoy working in their yard to people who do not come outside at all? I suspect the worst is happening.
I've noticed the same thing in my neighborhood. No one goes outside anymore, and it has become very quiet since 2021. One set of Asian neighbors who I rarely see, are STILL wearing masks when they do poke their heads out for a few moments. My two questions are: do they wear their masks inside their home...and why aren't they dead yet?
It's funny that you should say that because we actually have some Asian Neighbors who are walking around still with masks on in the summer. They have been told by their doctors that they need to walk and so they do but with their masks firmly in place.
My area used to have a thriving white guy construction contracting atmosphere. Even as recently as 2000. Not anymore. What do those guys do now? Shirley they can't all be coding. I see roofs being replaced by south of the border outfits, 1 tile per worker so that it looks like piranha or ants rearranging things.
As far as landscaping, I think yards are stupid, unless you want to throw a ball around. Growing food makes a lot more sense. If I could get away with it, my place would be hidden by a giant bamboo thicket or weeds, except a narrow boundary for maintenance.

Many more, at least in my area, are "Beltway Bandits," "consulting their way to riches. I'm sure there are too many "consultants" everywhere, most of them White. But you go into any government agency, and see nothing but nonwhites. The hospitals and urgent cares, the nursing homes, all feature almost 100% nonwhite staff. I have a large garden in my back yard (home sits on a half acre) and last fall I spent 1000 bucks on bamboo, precisely so I can have a bamboo grove covering my front yard and hiding my home. My neighbor said I was crazy to plant bamboo, and that it will take over. It's been almost a year, and that bamboo has hardly grown at all. I think my clay soil is the problem.
Don't forget to plant all pollinators with a thicket or weeds. Good pollinator habitat will increase crop yields by 80%. If we all did this, just imagine !

I still do my own yard work too, since that's the only exercise I get, and I need all the exercise I can get. It's more fun than a dumb exercise machine.

You have nailed it! My husband and I often discuss how it used to be only on the weekends where each father would get out and do his own lawn and we didn't have the blowers. You had to rake up the edging that you cut off and put it in bags. Much harder work of course! And I can remember what life was like before the weed eater. I remember my dad getting out the hedge trimmers and cutting around the trees like that. It was a weekend ritual that the whole neighborhood underwent so it was less noise, more social interaction, more calories expended, and perhaps a much happier time. I know I miss it!
Well, the flip side is that hiring someone else to do the yard work is supplying a job and that person can eat that night :) But yes, we still do our own yard work (almost an acre) and work on our own cars. Out here in the deserty west, there isn't as much yard work, but what there is goes on all year long - no breaks for snow.

My camera (for selfies) is currently covered with a layer of 3 band-aid brand band-aids. They seemed a bit transparent. They stick so much better than the black duct tape I was using previously. I clean my phone daily with an alcohol wipe. The duct tape would come off much sooner than the band-aids. By the way, I cut off all of the excess part of the band-aid.
My wife and I have never had a lawn service, even though we can afford it. She'd rather tithe than do that, anyway. In fact, she has never allowed me to buy a riding lawn mower because she thinks that's being lazy, and the exercise is good for us!

I think the biggest sin of all is those that benefit off of marketing all these sins. Perhaps I am stupid, but its just as easy to market following Christ and doing good in one's life. I think the biggest sin of all is those that benefit off of marketing all these sins. Perhaps I am stupid, but its just as easy to market following Christ and doing good in one's life. I get confused why most who are front and center don't follow along with the steps Jesus gave us. I realize thats what churches are for but I'm referring to 24/7 marketing. Make the world a better place. I try to in my menial ways. Everyone has a choice, so why take the wrong road when you know its the wrong road?
And speaking of families, I have a large tribe of those who mostly won't speak to me because I walked away from them all for nine years. I needed that break and did what I had to do which really cleared the fog from my brain. They call me names, gossip and some are "devout" Catholics, which I find are the most critical and judgemental people of all religions. They do not forgive and forget either. Too many times I keep hearing the same old garbage from 50 years ago and forwards. But my life hasn't been ruined by them or other people who have tried so hard to destroy me with their constant diatribe of venom. What doesn't beat you only makes you stronger.
Your comments how men and women look and dress today, I notice this "new look" anytime I go somewhere. How one could walk out the door and go out into the public is dishonoring to Christ, to yourself. I'm certainly no beauty queen but never do I look like I just crossed the border in sweats and overly tight fitting clothing either. The gluttony is disgusting as well.
Lets bring up the tats people have stamped all over their bodies. What is the purpose of those anyways? Is a person that self-absorbed, or have a lack of confidence in what God gave them naturally? I never, ever tell anyone I like their tats. They are ugly to me. I did mention to one person once that better think how those damn things are going to look when your skin is old, wrinkly, and flabby. I think I actually embarrassed them. There are enough scars on my body as is, so why add to it? No thanks. I like my clean skin look for what it is at my age.

They are government-permitted acts of rebellion. Like dyed hair and piercings. Nearly everyone who had these in my small town got the jab, despite their "Ooh, I'm a rebel!" schtick.
I don't regard pride as a sin. Nothing wrong with feeling pride for a job well done or some other accomplishment. Overbearing or boastful pride is objectionable but not a sin. It is a shame that the word has been appropriated and misapplied in much of its current usage. Some of the deadly sins are more self-destructive rather than transgressions against others. Envy may be the most self-destructive of all. Young people often ask how to have a happy life. I always reply: Take some time each day to feel grateful for all that you have and never let envy enter your heart or mind.

Could be because those are usually hidden sins of the heart and the mind. Which can certainly lead to deadly sins committed in the flesh. I believe that most, if not all of the gruesome crimes we hear about today are firmly embedded in the hearts and minds of people before they commit them.
