The whole January 6 commission charade has disillusioned me even further. That’s hard to do, given how disillusioned I already was. These boring and meaningless show hearings were televised live by every news network but Fox. And every “journalist” on those networks waxed rhapsodic about their monumental importance.
Lost in the shuffle was the fact that such a publicly aired hearing completely destroyed what little chance any of these political prisoners have for a fair trial. This was far more egregious than Richard Nixon proclaiming Charles Manson guilty before his trial. With a jury pool in Washington, D.C. consisting of more than 90 percent Democratic Party voters, they were already facing the odds of an open White nationalist looking for work in Hollywood. Not a single person with a public platform talked about this.
But then again, only Tucker Carlson in the mainstream media has shown the slightest amount of sympathy for these poor souls. With the exception of a handful of paid government informants, they assembled in Washington, D.C. to express their constitutional right to protest. Their giant orange leader told them he’d lead their march to the Capitol, then disappeared and threw them under the bus with an obviously prerecorded speech that showed him with a different hair color.
From the first absurd references to an “insurrection,” the Republicucks, who supposedly represent an opposition party to the crazed “Woke” Democrats, hid in dark corners without uttering a peep. The worst of them, the Lindsey Grahams, quickly lined up behind one of the biggest of the continuous big lies, and even wondered why our glorious police officers didn’t shoot more of the protesters. They never got together on the Capitol steps, and demanded due process for these protesters. The January 6 defendants, over a year later, are still awaiting due process.
The state controlled journalists continue to parrot the lie that five police officers were killed that day. In reality, Brian Sicknick died of a stroke later that afternoon, even though for months (and even now in some cases), “journalists” continued to lie about him being struck in the head with a fire extinguisher. Both the medical examiner and his own family disputed that. The other four officers committed suicide later. Using “Woke” logic, perhaps every subsequent death of a Capitol police officer will be blamed on the “insurgents.”
The only killing was the cold-blooded murder of twenty four year old Ashli Babbitt. The unarmed Babbitt was shot by Lt. Michael Byrd, whose stellar career in law enforcement included leaving his loaded gun unattended in a Capitol bathroom. Byrd was given a standing ovation for his “service” by your Congress. Go ahead, vote them out- I dare you! Of course, Byrd wasn’t disciplined in the slightest. He’s a hero. Don’t go into that building your taxes pay for. The Constitution, which your “representatives” have ignored for decades and largely don’t believe in, is sacred. So are our elections, unless it was 2016. Or 2000. 2020 was the most secure one ever!
A handful of decent Republicans in the House attempted to visit the “insurgents” in prison, to investigate their claims of being beaten and placed in solitary confinement, among other things. They were turned away at the door by completely disinterested, lower level prison guards. Only a few alternative outlets even covered their attempt. Even Tucker Carlson ignored it. And that was that. As Louie Gohmert, one of the congressman who tried to see the political prisoners, explained, he is part of a congressional committee that is supposed to oversee prison conditions. To that very pertinent point, Gohmert received a giant yawn from the entire establishment.
Liz Cheney, daughter of the guy the Left used to list as their favorite war criminal, is now a really cool chick. I read some of the comments on social media from formerly rational people, who used to love my work, and they just love her now. Some said she ought to run for president. Like John McCainiac, she’s the kind of Republican a Social Justice Warrior can love. Not even the cosmetic differences over abortion and guns with this gal. Now I realize using antiquated terms from America 1.0 like “chick” and “gal” are dangerous in our anti-free speech climate. Maybe “Iron Lady” is a better way to describe her. She kind of looks like an “Iron Lady.” Stern. Warlike. Utterly devoted to serving the corrupt state.
Like I’ve said many times, I’ve been at this for decades. I Pontificated bout the JFK assassination conspiracy during drunken parties in the 1970s. One was so memorable that people who’d left the party (it was probably around 3 a.m. or so), were actually called by those still there, asking them to come back and watch. Alcohol had the effect of making me even more friendly and garrulous than normal, but it also seemed to make me more eloquent on subjects like the assassination. That was America 1.0- debating the JFK assassination at three in the morning before a rapt, if un-sober, audience. As the oldsters used to tell me, those were the good old days.
I was preaching about the duopoly for years before Donald Trump was inserted into the political equation. Already a huge fan of Huey Long’s, I would cite his Tweedledum and Tweedledee references, along with his castigation of the Democrats and Republicans as HighPapaLowem and LowPapaHighem. Huey reminded us that it doesn’t matter who’s serving your meals, when all the food is cooked in the same Wall Street kitchen. Remember that when choosing your server, be it Ron DeSantis or Joe Biden. Same food. Same kitchen. Even in the glory days of America 1.0, there weren’t many others sprinkling regular Huey Long remarks into their conversation.
Most of those reading this know that I believe Donald Trump is an actor, a crisis actor if you will. He was assigned the role of populist-tinged “outsider.” His 2016 campaign rhetoric was often revolutionary and breath-taking. He said enough great things to make me vote for him, the first Republican I ever voted for. But it should have been obvious within the first few weeks of his presidency that Trump was your typical arrogant billionaire. And a pretty transparent actor.
The QAnon psyop was cooked up by some intelligence agency, to assuage the millions of supporters who were growing a bit impatient with Trump’s failure to do anything other than tweet. Yes, he was under relentless assault from the media and almost every other public figure. But that doesn’t excuse his naming almost exclusively #Never Trumpers to his cabinet. To supporting only RINOs against better Republican candidates. To threatening to close the borders, or sign a meaningful executive order, and then never doing it.
Trump’s campaign was effective, as was Bernie Sanders’, because they each tapped into the discontent in America with the status quo. Trump and Sanders each touched on different aspects of populism, which is a winning formula that virtually all political candidates mysteriously avoid. By the end of Trump’s contentious four years in office, the country was utterly divided. Those who contracted the very real mental illness Trump Derangement Syndrome were now in lockstep behind the Democrats. Those who continued to ignore all his inaction and betrayals contracted a different malady- Trump Enablement Syndrome, and are firmly planted in the Republican camp.
Never has a truly independent political party had less of chance than they have today in America. And they’ve never really had a chance historically. It works that way, when the Republicrats control ballot access, the debates, and “count” the votes. The media helpfully runs countless pre-election polls and anoints the establishment favorites as the “front runners,” before a single vote has ever been cast. The public, as always, follows the programming and dutifully casts their votes for whoever most of them consider the lesser of two evils. So they don’t even need to commit electoral fraud, given the awful choices. But they still do. They win, regardless.
The buzz on Fox News, and in Trump Enablement land, is that the Republicans are poised to take back both houses of Congress in the midterm elections. Now they might throw the Republicucks a bone and let them have Congress. It’s not like they’ll do anything with it, anyway. During Trump’s first two years in office, Republicans controlled Congress. I must have missed all that scintillating “conservative” action that took place. After all, the Democrats didn’t have the numbers to block them from doing what they keep claiming needs to be done. But hey, Trump appointed three Supreme Court justices. Two of which consistently vote against his supposed positions. The other one is a bit of a wildcard. So much “winning.”
Even during this Soviet-style show trial of the January 6 political prisoners, I heard people who are opposing it, attributing it to “stopping Trump from running again.” Yes, his presidency was so dangerous to the powers that be. Remember how he deported all those millions of illegals? Or ended birth-rite citizenship and sanctuary cities, as he promised? Brought the troops home from those “senseless wars?” Audited the Federal Reserve? Released the JFK files? Stopped the H-!B Visa worker program? Brought back American industry? You can view all his hundreds of accomplishments in identical lists that shills post on internet forums.
The Dinesh D’Souza types seem interested in 2020 electoral fraud only because it cheated Trump out of what would have been a “landslide.” At least that’s the way Trump always puts it. In reality, probably half the country hates Trump irrationally. They would have voted for an inanimate object over him. Biden, is, in effect, an inanimate object. With a population this divided over one man, no election involving him could ever be a “landslide” either way.
So now those of us who fought for term limits decades ago, who voted for Third Party candidates like Ross Perot, Pat Buchanan, and Ralph Nader, and then backed Ron Paul within the Republican Party, are stuck back in the quandary Huey Long exposed nearly a century ago. I am done with voting for the lesser of two evils. As some clever sort once said, the lesser of two evils is still evil. And they probably don’t count the votes, anyhow. At least not honestly. But it’s still your precious “democratic” right.
If the Republicans take back the Congress, you can bet it will not be with a bunch of Ron Paul-types, who are pledged to deport millions and control the border. Who want to end medical and judicial corruption. Who want our troops protecting us from a southern invasion, instead of being stationed nonsensically in 150 countries, or whatever the number is, around the world. Who want to end outsourcing and rebuild American industry. Who prioritize rebuilding and updating our antiquated infrastructure. And certainly not from even a single representative who claims 9/11 was an inside job and that Oswald didn’t kill JFK.
Instead, it will be with wealthy business people, committed to a strong defense and yet another tax cut for their One Percent friends. They won’t even mention the political prisoners or the January 6 Soviet-style show hearings. They certainly won’t be deporting any of our unknown millions of illegal immigrants. But they’ll salute the flag with the best of them. And search for any “African-American” (even Tucker Carlson uses this absurd politically correct term) who can stand upright and smile, to promote as the next hot Republican commodity. They will “Stand with Ukraine.” Or anyone else they’re ordered to. Unlimited taxpayer funds are yours, as long as you aren’t a needy American citizen.
Already, the signs are there. One of the few representatives in Congress who seemed interesting was young Madison Cawthorn. Then they publicized some stories that alleged the wheelchair-bound Cawthorn was some kind of gay lothario. And he, almost alone among all incumbents, lost his primary. Incumbents just don’t lose in America 2.0. Well, to be fair, they didn’t really lose in America 1.0, either. Somehow, a group that polls tell us have something like a 6 percent approval rating, are reelected 96 percent of the time. It’s a rock the vote thing, you wouldn’t understand.
While Cawthorn lost, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp prevailed in his primary with over 70 percent of the vote, against a challenger Trump endorsed. So Republican voters couldn’t stop themselves from voting for a guy who was in the epicenter of the 2020 vote fraud. A Republicuck who consistently blocked scrutiny of the very shady process that gave Biden a victory in a state Trump almost assuredly actually won. We’re told that the culturally iconic Liz Cheney is way behind in the polls, to a Trump-endorsed challenger. I think it’s likely these spellbinding January 6 hearings will give her one of those noteworthy “bumps” the media speaks of, resulting in her victory.
In Michigan, Ryan Kelley seemed to be the frontrunner in a race against one of the worst of all these monstrously bad elected officials, Governor Gretchen Whitmer. But the FBI recently arrested him. Because he was at the January 6, 2021 protest in Washington, D.C. So that means, in America 2.0. that he pretty much is disqualified for running for office. Sure, in the past, ‘Murricans elected people from their prison cells. They even elected the dead. Well, I guess that’s fitting, since the dead have become a crucial voting demographic. But this is a new tactic; the Democrats simply stop those they don’t like from even running. And the Repubicucks, as always, submissively whimper to themselves and prepare for their next apology.
Republicucks are really good at apologizing. Look at hapless Redskins’ (yes, I know that’s not their official name now), defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio. Del Rio simply tweeted something about how our government did nothing during the BLM riots, when real death and destruction occurred, while making a big deal about “a dustup” at the Capitol. You could hear the “Excuse Me!”s from Washington, D.C. to Hollywood. Del Rio predictably apologized. They always do, even though it never works. And head coach Ron Rivera fined him $100,000. I’m pretty sure that’s unprecedented. I’ll be waiting for any criticism of outspoken “Woke” NBA coaches Paul Popovich and Steve Kerr, or the countless loquacious Black sports figures who freely express their political opinions.
Don’t look for any Republicuck to spring to Del Rio’s defense. They never defend any pathetic figure caught in a politically incorrect conundrum. It’s better to lie low and hope the “Woke” authoritarians don’t see you. They might call you “racist” or a “conspiracy theorist.” And then what could you do? Why, you’d have to issue a heartfelt public apology, of course. We Catholics used to call them Acts of Contrition. Maybe you’ll be the first victim of anti-free speech culture to be saved by an apology. To not still be fired from your job, and drummed out of polite society.
A few notable figures haven’t bought into this Trump-induced division. My friends Cindy Sheehan, Cynthia McKinney, and Naomi Wolf immediately spring to mind. The Trump Agnostics are the smallest minority group in America. I’m not sure where Jill Stein of the Green Party stands now. She’s pretty much vanished from the political landscape. But that’s to be expected in this emboldened duopoly. Third Parties never had a chance at winning any rigged election. Now they are literally ignored.
Fifty years ago, you would have had civil libertarians like Nat Hentoff and my hero and mentor Mark Lane speaking out about this outrageous injustice of American citizens being denied due process over what, even if true, amount to misdemeanor offenses. The ACLU was actually concerned about civil liberties then, and would have been front and center in protesting the situation. Some Robert Shapiro type of Dream Team-lawyer would have stepped up and volunteered their services.
However, as I’ve written, there is a precedent for imprisoning political opposition. Abraham Lincoln did it during the War Between the States. He even unconstitutionally suspended the writ of habeas corpus. Biden hasn’t suspended anything, but he doesn’t have to at this point. The tyranny and corruption is so deep that no one dares to protest, lest they join the January 6 people behind bars. And if there was effective opposition, the government would simply cite Lincoln’s precedent. Woodrow Wilson did that, FDR did that, and George W. Bush did that to justify torture at Guantanamo Bay.
This is what we’re left with. The Democrats, the Evil Party, and the Republicans, the Stupid Party. Stupid is generally less dangerous than Evil, but it’s still Stupid. We really ought to demand better. But then, we really ought to demand a lot of things. A distribution of wealth that isn’t more unfair than any alleged First World country has ever seen. A legal system where there is at least a remote chance of getting justice. A medical system that doesn’t cause financial ruin for those forced to use it. Law enforcement that doesn’t frame or kill you. An infrastructure that gets an upgrade every sixty years. Political “representatives” that at least pretend to represent you.
But no, the majority of the public doesn’t care about any of those things. They pay more attention to who was the real villain in the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard trial. Or how luscious J-Lo’s “booty” looks in her new bikini pics. We have the most corrupt, incompetent, and now insane figures misleading the most ill-informed and gullible populace the world has ever seen. More tyrannical than the Soviets. More corrupt than Boss Tweed and Tammany Hall. Madder than the average loony bin. And nearly as dumb as the fictional citizens of Idiocracy.
In this country, the only “choice” people care about is on the subject of abortion. Very few are “pro-choice” on anything else. And many “pro-life” people aren’t very consistent, either. Most are in favor of the death penalty. Think of that; giving the power to the most corrupt government in the history of mankind to legally kill citizens. After they’ve been arrested by corrupt law enforcement, prosecuted by corrupt district attorneys, judged by brainless juries, and sentenced by corrupt judges. The whole rotten system should be overturned on account of reasonable doubt.
Sorry to be in such a grumpy mood. When I start typing, the grumpiness really sets in. You just can’t comment on anything happening in this crumbling country, without feeling this way. Record high food prices, and gas prices. A culture that promotes death and the ugliest perversions. A voting process that remains as rigged as it was in 2020. And yet Republicucks trust it to “take back” Congress. An infrastructure that atrophies more by the day. We now look like the Banana Republic that our disparity of wealth and systemic corruption advertise to the world.
Democrats. Republicans. Take your pick. Either way, you lose. And they win. As the opening of The Outer Limits used to warn viewers, “We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur, or sharpen it to crystal clarity.” That’s the kind of control the elite have over us. They control the narrative. By picking one of their, not our, putrid choices, we enable them. America 2.0 is full of enablers.
Wow Don, that was an incredible piece of penmanship and I will be sharing it far and wide! FYI, I totally agree with every word!!!
Every word frighteningly true, and at its core a plague that is global. "Welcome to the mad hatters tea party."
