Excellent post. I had virtually the same opinion as you of Trump up to the 2016 election, and I voted for him for the same reasons. But I became highly suspicious of him literally on election night, when in his victory speech he said “Hillary has worked very long and very hard over a long period of time, and we owe her a major debt of gratitude for her service to our country”. How had “lock her up” changed to “we owe her a major debt of gratitude for her service to our country” in just a couple of days? I got a queasy feeling in my stomach, but I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for a while, at least until he took office. But it became apparent soon after he took office that he was either unwilling or unable to keep any of his campaign promises. But what amazes me most about Trump is the tremendous number of supporters that he had throughout his entire presidency, and even still to this day. The people (or AI) who selected Trump to win in 2016 certainly understand human psychology.
I agree that Trump probably won’t win in 2024. I think they will install a Democrat (but probably not Biden), or another RINO, but I think they intend to keep Trump in the spotlight for a long time to come (which is one of the reasons he is running again). He is still useful to the elite, for many of the same reasons he was useful as president (such as keeping the country divided), but he doesn’t need to be president to be effective at that. Just a cursory look at Twitter shows a tremendous number of tweets about Trump to this day, both vitriol and hatred from those with TDS, and praise and worship from those who still support him even after all of his shortcomings and failures that you mentioned in this post.
