Don, you've had some great essays, but this is one of your best. I'm 77 now and believe me, it was a wonderful time to grow up, back there in our little town of maybe 175 (not counting dogs). It's not just nostalgia, either, it's remembering when someone's word meant something (usually), and if every home wasn't like the Nelsons, most wanted to be. Good job, young fella!
I’m 78 so I also understand where Mr Jeffries is coming from. What a difference 60 yrs can make in a culture going downhill fast. I see my 3 precious grandchildren caught up in the futility of video games and rap crap. Breaks my heart. Makes me want to sell my home, my Apple Iphone, Apple Watch, Apple IPad,🙄, grab those kids and head to Montana, buy some land, a few chickens, a cow, and grow my own food, and trust God to protect us and keep us safe and healthy! But alas, I’m 78 yrs old so it’s just not going to happen!
Thank you, DJ, for always making me laugh, especially every time you mentioned Kim Kardashian’s BIG ASS! It’s mind boggling to realize how stupid and gullible young women can be to think it’s really cool to have a BIG ASS and “mother” who is also your pimp! And I agree being married to that evil creature is what turned Bruce Jenner into a lunatic.
“Big Ass and ‘mother’ who is also your pimp.” I’m glad someone else caught on to the pimp aspect as that is exactly what it is. I met a woman who was older than myself who would always insist she was a “real Christian” but one day she walked into my house with a portrait of an ass in a straight pencil skirt that she had painted. I could not make this up if I freaking tried. It was a portrait of her granddaughter….sans her face, just her rear. She said her granddaughter was a “derrière model” in LA. The granddaughter has millions of virtual followers on social media as an influencer and the grandmother was hoping to gain exposure via her granddaughter, perhaps be on a “reality show” (because we definitely need more of those…not). So I said, “oh, she’s an ass model. I speak French.” I asked how that aligned with traditional Christian values. She had no response. All the granddaughter’s channel features is dancing around in bikinis to the most horrendous rap music, sometimes with her mother, and I know our society has devolved because millions follow this young woman rather than dealing with the fact billions of people have been poisoned via experimental injections. I feel like we live in Red Rider’s Lunatic Fringe or Golden Earring’s Twilight Zone songs. I refuse to deal with people who attempt to make money or gain fame off of their children or grandchildren but those people are all over the place. It’s insane. The ‘civil’ part of civilization is missing. We are at an all time low.
There are so many examples like that, Elizabeth. The "Cass me outside" girl. More recently, the ridiculous "Hawk Tuah" girl. Millions of followers for utter depravity. No talent whatsoever. Thanks!
It makes me feel better that someone else actually sees it, honestly. I stated on court record in 2018 that we had normalized insanity. However, that was prior to the plandemic and mutilating masses of children. I don’t even know what the Hawk Tuah girl is. I had to tune out when Admiral Rachel Levine came on the scene. I deliberately live under a rock. I agree that this is your best essay to date. Thanks for that.
Yes, but our science is not fiction. I determined the overhead rate for federally sponsored research prior to having children. I assure you that what we have been paying for as taxpayers is not science fiction.
I should add that I am over the sexualization and perversion of literally everything. I’ll just be the one wearing my Let’s Bring Wholesome Back shirt and hat. I have zero desire to fit in with current society.
Thank you. I am going to roll with Counterfeit World by Five Times August for today. Seems to sum it all up well. I have a song for literally everything and everyone!
Thanks, I have to use that song in one of my posts sometime!
Are you familiar with a German techno group called Tangerine Dream? They did a huge amount of tracks for the movie industry
when they needed some eerie synth music. They did music for like 60 movies. The only reason I mention it is because the movie Wavelength used their music. The movie was about an underground military facility holding alien children. The location was the mysterious Lookout Mountain in Laurel Canyon, an area which would now be burned out from the fires in LA. I suppose, but famous for the rock celebrities who lived there. I can easily imagine children being held in military type underground experimental facilities. The music, the movie, the military facility, the Hollywood stars, and the fires all sync
Wow….I am not familiar with the band or the movie. However, my father was a VP for Capitol Records during the Laurel Canyon days until 2004 and the musicians that era produced were friends or associates of my father. It does all sync up in more ways than I could have ever fathomed. I have had to unlearn everything I once accepted as fact in the last 12 years. I will definitely check out the band as well as the movie. Thanks for the recommendations! So nice to meet you!
These were the men needed in the military at the time. FATHER KNOWS BEST when the middle class had power and house wives existed to raise large families with the absence of birth control. Women's liberation began its collapse. Welcome tough talking Rosanne.
Tavistock Institute is a chameleon.
Divide and Conquer was needed. Welcome Archie Bunker and Meathead. Currently the middle class needs to be wiped out with diseases and lockdowns and the Great Taking.
I remember that New Year's Eve. I had the radio on, and as I pulled my New Year's turkey from the oven (I was still eating meat back then) I heard the sad news about Rick Nelson.
Donald, I appreciate you being the only one I read who writes CONSTANTLY about the slow genocide of Whites. We know who is behind this, because (((they))) openly brag about it. Just as we can't mention (((them))) without fear, we can't mention White replacement without fear. The only time I am exposed to video advertising is online. The total take-over of Blacks in ads, and the total take-over of whiney airhead females with their vocal fry and upspeak...is so offensive that I don't have words to describe it. I certainly will not be buying any product they sell. I also hate being told there is a gay person I know and love. Ah...no...how on earth would I have anything do with a gay person? How would they even be in my orbit?
I put up with this s*** because now, more than any time in history, we need to hear breaking psy-ops. I look at the Daily Mail site every day because it seems to be one of the main organs of NWO propaganda. Doing backflips to twist content to uphold blatant lies; titillating sex content; constant celebrity gossip; outrageous fear porn; constant stories about "terrorists"; and now, the most offensive...blaming everything under the sun for the massive death toll of the death jabs. This site is clearly aimed at females...and it's clear that the NWO targeted women. You've got to hand it to them...how we went from a man-centered society to a female/gay centered society so smoothly...nobody noticed.
I rarely listen to music...but last night I was feeling nostalgic, so for a couple of hours I watched videos from 1981-1984. I still had an idiot box back then, and I did watch Mtv. What shocked me was: #1 how thin everyone was; #2 CLEAR SKIN no disfiguring tattoos. #3 the woman actually looked good... make-up done well, hair done well. They were trying to look attractive...not trying to look like monsters.
I'm very grateful that you appreciate my work, Kris. You have such clear headed takes on everything. I liked MTV initially. When they played music videos. I don't know what they do now. Maybe they're like The "History" Channel, and just show marathons of American Pickers. Thanks!
Yep. I still prefer to believe they made him an offer he couldn't refuse. I can't accept that such a handsome Olympic champion would "transition" like that. I think he's playing a part, like Trumpenstein. Thanks, Liam!
Love your sense of humor…I usually get a chuckle even in the sadness of the truth you bring. The two older shows I watch these days on antenna tv, as I gave up cable years ago after flipping through 150 channels with nothing to watch, are Andy Griffith and The Waltons. Thanks DJ!
I'm glad you enjoy it, Brad. Those are two great shows. The Andy Griffith Show remains my all time favorite. I even named my fantasy football team Don Knotts. Thanks!
“Little house on the prairie “ is mentioned in the article. It was Reagan’s favorite show supposedly. The tv show barely approximated the actual “Little House “ series of books by LI Wilder. I read the books in the ‘90s when my wife got them for our kids, they came as a set. They were a how to manual for living in rural America in the late 19th century. Very well written and so interesting and informative. The tv version staring teenage werewolf Michael Landon was pure schlock as would be a show the gipper would like.
Yes, I certainly have noticed that, Jason. I don't want laws banning interracial couples. People should be free to love who they please. But as you note, it's so wildly out of proportion that obviously powerful forces are pushing it, for whatever reason. I am against coercion through propaganda. Thanks.
Agreed, I believe the same- love who you want, but I really have to question the motive behind blatant “social engineering” in certain directions of society - especially when it is wildly out of proportion with the reality of said society
I watched the show in the early years but wasn’t that big of a fan. Unrelated to your post, I worked on and flew in the DC-3 that Ricky died in during the 1970s at Summit Aviation in Delaware. The plane belonged to Richard “Kip” DuPont who often used the plane to fly to his hotel in Haiti among other places. I don’t remember there being any issues with the plane at that time.
OK, Don, you did it--made me comment! I've been a Monday night listener of yours on rense for 4 years, and a "lurker" here since August, but 1950's TV or anything 1950's?--I just had to weigh in on my favorite era--1950's-early 60's.
I'm a few years older than you are, so I vividly remember watching Ozzie and Harriet, with Rick singing at the end of each episode. Frankly, I thought David was better looking than Rick, but that's me!
Coming from a functional family myself, I loved the togetherness of these 4--week after week with no embarrassing language or suggestive happenings. The Donna Reed Show was another favorite of mine, until Mary Stone (Shelley Fabares) had her hit song "Johnny Angel" and left the show. Father Knows Best was another quality show with a weekly wholesome message, and there were so many others!
Personally, I don't have or don't want a smart TV (is it watching me watching it?) I still have the heavy model with the big back that one could purchase, plug in, and immediately tune in to the 3 or 4 broadcast channels for some excellent entertainment, any day of the week.
Don, I enjoy the depth (and humor at times) that you bring to your posts, and I love reading the various comments, but I think I'll happily remain in my 1950's reverie. Those were better days!
Great article ! I didn’t live in the 50 ‘s and 60’s ( born in 1967) but I pine for that era , the style ( especially MCM) , the art , music , old movies , patriotism , decency , individualism , respect , and uncomplicated lives . My grandad was an OB/ Gyn in the era and had a ledger where people paid monthly . You didn’t have anything but a nurse and you just opened the door and said “ Next!” Now , running a practice is a nightmare ( I’m an OB as well and still not corporate bought ).
remember that "patriotism" in the 40's for WWII led to the total takeover of the West by the bolshevik jews. allies fought the war to save bolshevik communists. patriotism is taken over by the tribe and ONLY their interests are served
“I long for real, solid people.” Boy, do I relate. I long for the days when one could make an agreement with a simple handshake and people kept their word, too.
Spot on. Looking back on America 1.0 is, indeed, a mixed bag. It's wonderful while you're in that moment, but the reality of the present then smacks you across the face.
I suspect the reason we're supposed to blindly hate leaders like Putin and Orban is because they are white males who project strength and leadership. Sissies like Trudeau, Macron, Obama, etc...are fawned over by the cucked media. The CIA and the Khazars really put the pedal to the metal as the mid 60s approached. They changed the game and got away with it. Thanks Don
Hi, Donald, couldn't agree with you more about your TV comparisons of then and now. The stories, the unobtrusive background music, even strategically placed stretches of silence. I don't see how anyone can watch today's TV. I turn it on when staying in hotel / motel rooms when traveling as a noise buffer but even then I have to get up in the middle of the night and switch it to something else when 30 minute commercials come on about this new drug to improve fingernail beauty, as long as you can ignore the frothing at the mouth side effects. The acting is terrible and you don't give a rat's ass about the characters. I recall having to listen to a hip hop music station once and during news breaks, the newsreader had to have drum beats in the background. Media is godawful now.
There is a TV here but it remains unplugged and unwatched, unless there are visitors and an attention distractor is needed. Fills those uneasy silences, you understand. I've been watching some old shows on Amazon lately that I enjoy. The old British shows The Avengers and The Saint. My cousin's aunt was on an episode of The Saint, two episodes of The Avengers, and many episodes of Benny Hill (cousin on her mom's side; aunt is on her dad's side). The shows I'm watching now are the old Dark Shadows episodes. Even a show about werewolves and vampires leaves you sleeping more peacefully at night than today's mess about anything, even if it's a cooking show, lol.
Dee, like you the only time I see tv is in hotel/motel rooms. I turn it on while I'm unpacking, and that's about all I can take. This has been the case for at least 30 years...so I have been able to track the race towards the gutter with each road trip I take. Every time I think it can't possibly get worse...it does.
You're right it's terrible. You might want to try Hispanic stations, unless you can speak that language and it also jars you awake. Even they sometimes default to Pfizer infomercials late at night. When I click "like", it never seems to show. Maybe only on my end it doesn't show.
Enjoy your Ozzie and Harriet shows while they are still available. I do not remember sitting in front of the TV and watching them growing up, but as a family, we did watch shows that were on Saturday and Sunday nights. By the way, I did inherit that black and white TV with the knobs. I could not afford a TV when I finally moved out and really don't remember what I did with it eventually.
We were not given the luxury of watching what we wanted when we wanted. Our mother would force us outside so she could de-stress while sewing or whatnot. 9 little Indians were too much for her to handle. Unless it was super cold out or there was a tornado warning, we were pretty much outdoors, or hanging with some of the neighbor kids.
As far as the Kardashian and Ellen DeGenerate eras and all the other fake happy non-humans or psychotic neurotic families, they never appealed to me. I was not addicted to any of that stupidity.
I like shows that had some sort of message of morality, selflessness, right/wrong and being kind to others even at your own sacrifice. Plain being a decent person even if not perfect.
These are the days of selfies, narcissism, meanness, social media, and everything that is fake and amounts to a pile of nothing. If only the younger generation could see. Some do, most do not.
I guess we have reached the age of major reminiscing. If it keeps you alive, your mind stays active, and it makes you feel good, then do it.
Fran, I spent a lot of time outside as well. First of all, my primary love was sports as a kid, so I was always playing something. And my mother was big on, "go get some fresh air!" The TV set was completely controlled by my father. It was the patriarchy, after all. So, I couldn't watch a lot of the shows I wanted until they were syndicated. Thank goodness for reruns, even if they didn't pay the actors. Thanks!
We were told "Get outside"! My mother controlled the TV, but if my father wanted to turn it on, nothing was said.
I remember many of those Ma and Pa Kettle, 3 Stooges, Andy Hardy, Abbott and Costello shows. Ed Sullivan. Yes, and we did watch Porter Wagoner and Hee-Haw as well (definitely cringe worthy). Death Valley Days, The Lone Ranger, and the list goes on and on. Perhaps some campy shows, but they were fun. Re-runs in the 60s, but I liked these shows. Not even comparable to the garbage of today.
My oldest brother drew a hotrod on the wall by his bed, "Have Car - Will Travel".
In a way, thank God for YT because I have gone back to watch some of these older shows.
Or…we could perform tasks that are actually useful for society? We are in the midst of frigid temperatures in my state and the homeless population is off the charts. We even have elderly people on the streets. My friend and I brought food, collected coats and blankets to be distributed. Even though my friend has a special needs daughter, we loaded her up and went to try to ease some suffering. Hundreds of people were on cots in a local church to stay out of the cold. I know for sure the government is not going to do anything constructive to help. I’m definitely not going to be imitating the Kardashians. I completely understand the urge to reminisce. America rather looks like hell currently.
Isn't it truly amazing that plain old people like me and you can do so much, even if it seems so small to help others? We don't need Medals of Honor or Freedom to be Kind, Caring, and Understanding Humans who are compassionate towards others. We certainly don't have fame and fortune, but we do what we can. Believe me, what you have done is so very appreciated!
I watch another fella on YT, The Appalachian Channel with John Ward. You would be totally WOWED if you saw what he has done to gather others to help those suffering in western NC. It only takes ONE and the rest is history. Think of Jesus and he how started out. So many people John has gathered together to make sacrifices to help those in need. Who needs this damn and useless government?
Thank you for the recommendation to check out John Ward. I’m at the point where I can only watch truly inspirational people. I gave my very nice TV away to the man who cut my hair because I could not handle all the violence and trashy stuff. I’m so glad that there are others who have not forgotten NC already. I am sickened by the fact we have so many homeless people…and elderly. Good God, we have our own elderly people on the streets. I don’t have vocabulary for that. Be blessed, too, Fran. Thank you again.
“The goodness of regular folk.” That is exactly the way we can change things for the better. It is the only way, I am convinced. It absolutely will not be the political class or the oligarchs. You should have “The goodness of regular folk” printed on a T-shirt. I would buy one in a heartbeat.
One quibble: I think we are now in America 4.0 not 2.0.
1.0 was the founding to Lincoln
2.0 As Gore Vidal noted, Lincoln was our Ceaser. He turned America from a republic into a Regional Empire. During this period, Jews started getting control of culture
3.0 After WW2 America became an international empire increasingly controlled by Jews. Through this shorter period, much of traditional life continued but was being intentionally eroded with a very successful effort to market black men (in a normal society the least functioning and productive members of society) the symbol of coolness and sex appeal.
4.0 Probably started with the Clintons but really kicked into gear with Obama's second term.
Discussing movies, I asked a twenties thirties couple if they'd seen Casablanca. They'd never heard of it. Casablanca came out years before I was born and I felt like an idiot describing the movie (trying to explain WW2 Vichy France/North Africa timeframe etc) It was like describing a wristwatch to a hog. The husband recommended one of those super hero movies.
LOL. The shallowness of literal comic book Hollywood fare in the last few decades is so depressing, and at least one generation has been weaned on this pablum, alas.
Don, you've had some great essays, but this is one of your best. I'm 77 now and believe me, it was a wonderful time to grow up, back there in our little town of maybe 175 (not counting dogs). In 1987….you were well ahead of the good curve. Congratulations!

I love it when the music syncs with our situation and hits hard.
Anytime you find a good sync, post it up!

Oh, if you have not heard Cognitive Dissident by The The, it’s appropriate as well. I likely missed my calling as a DJ haha.
Thanks, YellowRose!

yes her name is laquisha
Yup--and you and me pay the rent.
u is right dog
Yes there is

An expert's thoughts on the Middle Class: "The way to crush the bourgeoisie is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation."
Vladimir Lenin
The replacement society is pretty miserable. Would'nt it be great if someone somewhere was secretly planning its demise.....
The Tavistock Institute is a continuing crime against humanity.

Fantastic link. Thank you.
The problem of living in the past is that it makes the present so much more painful.
Well, I'm not living there, Realist. Watching old shows like this relaxes me. Much less dangerous than drugs or drinking. Thanks.
I still watch those old B&W classic series like Alfred Hitchcock, Twilight Zone, and Outer Limits. Nothing now even comes close to their quality.
They were all way ahead of their time.
Appreciating the past does not require living in it.
Isn’t it shocking that our current reality is light years beyond what we saw in the Twilight Zone?
Haha, your monicker is a dead giveawy, Maxwell Smart!
That's the truth!!
He’ll always be Bruce Jenner...
Yep. I still prefer to believe they made him an offer he couldn't refuse. I can't accept that such a handsome Olympic champion would "transition" like that. I think he's playing a part, like Trumpenstein. Thanks, Liam!
Agree!
I suspect that he became vegetarian and the estrogen finally got to his brain.
How about $TRUMPetSchwein? (He has a memecoin to collect anonymous bribes.)
Yes, he will. I refuse to call HIM any name other than Bruce Jenner!
Love your sense of humor…I usually get a chuckle even in the sadness of the truth you bring. The two older shows I watch these days on antenna tv, as I gave up cable years ago after flipping through 150 channels with nothing to watch, are Andy Griffith and The Waltons. Thanks DJ!

Yes, they were not very similar to the books, Richard. Especially later, they really virtue signaled in almost all episodes. Thanks.
Michael Landon's Highway To Heaven show was good too. Even clean enough to let the little children watch it.
Love your breakdown on the destruction of normality via tv
Have you noticed that LITERALLY every single couple on tv commercials is an interracial couple?
Certainly nothing wrong with that- but it’s just not proportional to real life- I wonder why this is modeled?
The same with every clueless and “stupid” character in a commercial is a weak beta white male- again, why is this?
Theres a lot of conditioning going on
Yes, I certainly have noticed that, Jason.
That's wonderful to hear, Christine. Given the sorry state of America 2.0, it's impossible not to wax nostalgic about the past. Thanks!
I long for real , solid people .
I appreciate that, Kerjanga. It's no cliche to say things were a whole lot simpler. And slower. Thanks!
remember that "patriotism" in the 40's for WWII led to the total takeover of the West by the bolshevik jews. allies fought the war to save bolshevik communists. patriotism is taken over by the tribe and ONLY their interests are served
“I long for real, solid people.” Boy, do I relate. I long for the days when one could make an agreement with a simple handshake and people kept their word, too.
Unfortunately, the lawyers ruined that.
Probably the cannabis and various mind and social control, too.
Indeed.
Thanks Don
Yes, Robert, they want all White males to be cucks. Alpha males don't fit into a matriarchy. Thanks!
Great points, Dee. Thanks!
I used to stay in motels all the time for work. I finally got to the point where I wouldn't even turn on electric J.
"Having a television in your home, is like having a Jew in your living room".
Father Leonard Feeney
Amen.
exactly.
Enjoy it all, Don!
God sees all. Be Forever Blessed, Elizabeth!
I've been watching John Ward too. It warms one's heart. The only help those poor folks have gotten is from the goodness of regular folk.
“The goodness of regular folk.” That is exactly the way we can change things for the better. It is the only way, I am convinced. It absolutely will not be the political class or the oligarchs. You should have “The goodness of regular folk” printed on a T-shirt. I would buy one in a heartbeat.
I really like John. He has absolutely No Love for government and he doesn't hide his disgust. John is a most Wonderful Man and Human Being!
This is precisely why I watch mostly old movies these days.
Thanks for the nostalgic trip to a more sane and wholesome America!
Thanks, Teresa!
