Sixty years ago today, President John F. Kennedy was murdered in broad daylight, in Dallas, Texas, the home state of his vice president. Where the mayor was the brother of a high ranking CIA official whom JFK fired after the Bay of Pigs, and was later revealed to be a CIA asset himself.
I am in the middle of five interviews today. People like me, who have been researching the assassination for many years, are generally in demand by the podcasting world on special occasions like this. I was interviewed by an Irish television distributor earlier this year, for a JFK special that was supposed to air on CNN, believe it or not, around the sixtieth anniversary. It hasn’t aired yet, although it has been on television in the UK and throughout Europe. As Bill Murray’s character said in Caddyshack, so I got that going for me, too. I can only talk about the minutiae so much. The single bullet theory is impossible. There had to be multiple assassins. Oswald shot no one. The crime has never been investigated honestly.
Flash forward to our present ugly reality. America 2.0 is not a pretty sight. Crumbling roads full of unrepaired potholes, bridges on the verge of collapse, ancient power grids with sensors apparently controlled by China, median strips and common areas overgrown in full Banana Republic style. And that’s just the embarrassing infrastructure. Corruption everywhere, from top to bottom. A shocking lack of empathy among almost everyone. A “healthcare” system and a “justice” system that should be avoided at all costs. Dishonesty and disinformation predominant. Nothing good to be said for any institution, or a majority of the people.
I’ve been watching too many YouTube videos featuring “fat activists.” These are obese people, almost always women, who are irrationally proud of their bloated and unhealthy bodies. They ludicrously claim that you can be “healthy at every size,” to quote from the title of a book by one Lindo Bacon, who was once Linda, and now has They/Them pronouns. Just as there are medical “professionals” who happily chop off the penises and breasts of underage children, there are respectable doctors going along with this politically correct nonsense. Two of the leaders of the “fat acceptance movement” recently died, at ages thirty seven and forty two. Healthy at every size.
To watch these women is like being mesmerized by a train wreck. I don’t know where they hid the obese women when I was a strapping young lad, but they certainly weren’t out there proudly showing off their bodies. Certainly there were far fewer of them. The ones that existed weren’t Victoria’s Secret models. They weren’t on the cover of Cosmopolitan. As a teenager, I looked forward to the annual Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition. If I were a teenager today, and was subjected to the last few swimsuit issues, I’d probably instantly start transitioning to one of the infinite numbers of available genders. They started featuring overweight women, and at least a few transgenders. Not quite the same as Christie Brinkley back in the day. Now I think they’ve just stopped publishing it.
It’s for the best that Playboy stopped having nude pictorials. You know, the entire reason for the magazine turning into such a successful empire. It would have been sad to see an obese Playmate of the Month, or even worse a man pretending to be a woman Playmate of the Month. But who buys magazines now anyway? With or without nude pictures. With or without transgenders. I guess they have “Big Beautiful Women” porn online. I definitely wouldn’t know about that. I suspect there is no puzzling fetish for “Big Beautiful Men” out there, just as there doesn’t appear to be any “fat acceptance” advocates who are male. Well, born male. And heterosexual. if JFK really was a “sex addict,” you can bet he never made it with an obese woman.
I’m struck by how effortlessly these “large” women have inserted themselves into the Professional Victimhood Industry. They use the same language, consisting primarily of knee-jerk name calling and labeling. There is some four hundred plus pound woman who has somehow gained fame for claiming to have anorexia! And the mainstream media promoting her parroted the new “science” that over eating isn’t an “eating disorder.” But anorexia- eating too little and forcing yourself to vomit- is a disorder. It’s a body shaming thing, you wouldn’t understand. The confidence of these women is mind-boggling. Too many very attractive girls, with lovely bodies, have killed themselves because bullies called them “fat.” So there is a positive element here.
I wrote the book Bullyocracy. I covered many cases where kids were bullied relentlessly over their weight. I was an obese kid, back when obesity was not only not cool, but virtually unknown. A cultural pathfinder. I know what it’s like to be called names that sting you to your core. I would never make fun of someone’s weight. But these “fat activists” have taken things to absurd lengths. It’s one thing to protect children from being harassed over their physical appearance. But it’s quite another to extoll and glorify the nonexistent virtues of obesity. I’m sorry, but obesity isn’t attractive. Nobody looks better with a lot of extra weight on them. If these women are beautiful, then the word has lost all its meaning. As a character in a Twilight Zone episode once said, when everyone is beautiful, no one is. There must be something in contrast.
So, now “Big and Beautiful” women have joined the “Woke” world, but not in the usual “victimhood” way. Yes, they do claim to be unable to lose weight, because they were “born that way.” They were born “big women,” just like homosexuals are “born gay,” or so they used to tell us, until they started telling us that what we are born is irrelevant. Just an “assigned” gender at birth. If you think about it, women losing a lot of weight is just another form of transitioning. Like the little boys and girls being surgically mutilated at the whims of their insane “Woke” mothers. Some transitioning, it appears, is more equal than others.
But the “Fat Acceptance” movement doesn’t accept fat people losing weight. If you do that, you’ll be ostracized, even ironically be bullied, by the “Big and Beautiful” crowd. They won’t even permit you to want to lose weight, which was the dream of every overweight person until we veered into the most turbulent waters of Wokeness a few years ago. Very few men have spoken up about this phenomenon. These are the same guys who “rated” really attractive females with a demeaning “score,” without batting an eye on their fat, balding heads, until very recently. “Morning Zoo” radio centered around the topic of just how “hot” various females were. Heated arguments ensued.
So we now have the fat and proud crowd, joining the gargantuan egos of the Black and proud crowd, the in-your-face combativeness of the gay and proud crowd, the self-hating Whites who seem proud of something and want to violently remove your “White Privilege,” and the more traditional, pink pussy-hat wearing toxic feminists, who I guess are proud of their vaginas. Remember, society entered padded-room territory with The Vagina Monologues. Pride about their sex organ. Everyone with a vagina loved it. Little did they know we were on the precipice of vagina irrelevance. Now, anyone assigned male at birth can just have that penis converted into a shiny new vagina. Somehow I don’t think the author of The Vagina Monologues pictured that.
I used to think that making irresponsible consumption of alcohol into a “disease” was about the height of absurdity. But that was in America 1.0. Our definition of absurdity was different. Our standards for insanity were lower. Thus the fact that more Americans were in mental institutions in the 1950s than today, when the population was but a fragment of the teeming mess that is America 2.0. I thought Reagan emptying the mental hospitals was a good thing. I had no idea there was that much batshit craziness out there. By the standards of the 1950s, maybe 75 percent of present day America would have been institutionalized.
My father was an “alcoholic.” So was my grandfather. There are several members of my extended family afflicted with this “disease.” Alcoholics Anonymous, in fact, probably started this whole victimhood nonsense. “Hi, I’m Donald, and I’m an alcoholic.” I have no power over what I consume. It’s such a powerful disease that, even though I see the damage it causes to my loved ones, I can’t stop. I’m powerless. I’m a victim. It’s not bad behavior. It’s a disease! Ask anyone- other “alcoholics,” their enablers, members of the always stalwart medical profession. I’m not sure if most people- even those who believe in “alcoholism,” see the homeless drunks as “victims” in quite the same way as the businessman who beats his wife and kids, because of this horrible “disease” that he is powerless against.
Drunks can’t control how much liquor they drink. I’m not sure if the obese women can control how much they eat, and just won’t do it because they don’t want to be shunned by the “Fat Acceptance” movement, or they want to keep eating more so they can be even bigger and beautifuler. While society misrepresents excessive eating and excessive drinking in different ways, they are part of the same dysfunctional family. It’s about justifying bad choices, and excusing disastrous consequences for both the individual and those who care about them. While “alcoholism” is thankfully not contagious, “Fat Acceptance” appears to be. Just go to your local mall and observe. The obese are invading us just like our low paid illegal immigrants.
Alcoholics and “Fat Activists” must vie for attention with a slew of other dubious groups. Transgenders. Sex “addicts.” Gambling “addicts.” Again, irresponsible behavior rewarded with a “disease” tag. Just as most “Fat Activists” are female, almost all “sex addicts” are male. Shocking. Who could have foreseen this dreadful malady? Those who throw money around recklessly can now claim to be “addicts” too. Why not? How is a “gambling addict” less credible than an “alcoholic?” The two often go hand in hand, like heart disease and strokes. You can throw “sex addict” in there and find plenty of financially successful married men who have sadly contracted all three of them. A “Woke” trifecta.
It’s really unfair that some Americans are exempt from all virtue signaling afflictions. Why cant those incredibly rare “White Supremacists” claim that they’re a “victim” of their beliefs? Helpless to change? They were born that way. If men can claim to be “sex addicts,” why can’t genuine rapists blame their crimes on their “disease?” It was just a “sexual emergency,” as the illegal migrant who raped an eight year old boy at a swimming pool maintained. Worked for him. If you can “identify” as something other than what you clearly are, why can’t some hapless males “identify” as the lover of a super model? You must respect “their truth,” as the social justice warriors like to say.
I’ve talked about ailments such as Post Partum Depression Syndrome and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I won’t even give Executive Burnout a cursory mention. If executives are overworked and overstressed, how must janitorial workers feel? I don’t believe there is any sickness, outside of insanity or demon possession, that would compel a mother to throw her baby off of a bridge. This happened decades ago, and it was attributed to post partum depression. I guess it fits in well with all the other anti-child, anti-family, and anti-family propaganda in America 2.0. Only our decayed culture could claim that giving birth can make the mother depressed.
Andrea Yates may be the single greatest villain, in my view, in modern history. Yates drowned her five small children, one by one, in the bathtub on June 20, 2001. Then placed them neatly in a row on a bed. Now maybe someone could construct a scenario where the flustered, overwhelmed mother just snapped, and killed one of the kids. Okay, maybe she was really, really flustered and overwhelmed and murdered two of them. By holding them underwater, watching them writhe in agony. But to continue right on up to number five, whom she had to chase and force into the bathtub, demolishes that argument. She should have snapped back at some point during those five, time consuming murderers of her precious flesh and blood.
But Yates has her defenders. Mostly they blame her husband, who was admittedly pretty wacky himself. He was all smiles at the funeral for his children, and talked about wanting to get back with her. He really should apologize to his wife for somehow causing her to kill their kids. It was probably Bad Husband Syndrome, or Mansplaining Syndrome. I thought Susan Smith was the greatest villain until Yates came along. Strapping your two little sons in car seats and then pushing the car underwater is pretty bad. Serial killer like criminal behavior. But Smith has no defenders. This is probably because she initially claimed some Blacks had abducted the children. If only she had blamed some White skinheads, she might have been able to claim some kind of victim status.
Whether you’re fat and/or drunk, or suffer from any of the countless “syndromes” that plague America 2.0, I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving. Please think of all those who are spending Thanksgiving alone. If we’re fortunate enough to have immediate families with little or no dysfunction, we should feel very, very blessed. I wish I could invite all of you who have let me know you have no one to be thankful with to my home. Life itself is a blessing. Children are a blessing. Family members who actually love and care for each other is a blessing. Too many don’t have any of that. And seeing as how it’s the sixtieth anniversary of the JFK assassination, pause a moment and consider what was lost that day, and how that transformed our history.
Without the murder of the only peace-loving president we’ve ever had, the last one who thought he was truly in charge, the 1960s would have been entirely different. No Vietnam War. No counterculture. No MLK and RFK assassinations. Perhaps no drug and sex revolutions. The greatest economy the world had ever seen, and it might have continued on that way for another few decades. Idealism died that day. Innocence died that day. Trust in our institutions died that day. Who knows? Without the JFK assassination, we might never have heard of “fat acceptance.” Drunks might still just be drunks, not “alcoholics.” There would still just be two genders.
Without the JFK assassination, I might have never been radicalized. Might not have questioned everything. Might have obeyed better. Received better report cards. Perhaps I would have gone away to college, joined a fraternity. Drank even more than I did not going to college. Had a lot more illicit sex. And eventually made a lot more money. No wonder I always loved Robert Frost’s poem “The Road Not Taken.” I took the one less traveled by. So instead of playing golf every day with other retired bigwigs, I’m expressing controversial views about various subjects for all of you, which hopefully you find thought provoking. I’ll never be a victim or a victimizer. I’ll never join the mob mentality, on victimhood, the JFK assassination, or anything else.
I usually agree with your ideas, you explain your points of view so well. As a recovering alcoholic I'm not so sure you understand AA or what it tries to teach recovering Alcoholics. Victimhood does not rear it's ugly head in the meetings I attend. We are taught to take responsibility for our bad actions past and present. We are taught to help others in and out of the meetings.
I am not sure about over weight people, sex addicts, gambling, or any other addicted person, as a recovering person I am sick of the victimhood that's been created in this country, generations of people that don't take responsibility for themselves or their families, why should they? Our Government wants everyone dependent on them. Decades of paying people to sit around and do nothing day after day, year after year, decade after decade. There is no pride in education, work by trade, or leadership.
I can tell you that getting sober and living a good life has been the hardest thing I've ever done and also the best thing I've ever done!
Take heart whether these addictions are a disease or not, you can recover and stop blaming everyone and everything for your problems! Wake up America before it's too late!!
Too many thoughts on todays rant to make comments on.
I willjust give you this; I saw a billboard that said
"Welcome to Texas,
Batshit crazy and armed to the teeth.
Ammo next 7 exits." Have a good one.
