That's very kind of you, Gregory. I used to fantasize about a career in politics. But there are so many obstacles to anyone who doesn't have connections, and won't compromise. Neither party would ever likely endorse me at the congressional level. Independents have no chance in our odious system. I don't think I'd be saying things that the base of either party wants to hear. Plus, my wife and kids would not want the invasion of privacy. For me, it would be a significant pay raise. That is exactly true. Anyone running for a political position is torn to shreds personally and every other way. My husband and I both came from political families and were asked in the 60's to run for different offices. We both said absolutely not and that is why. No money is worth it and we are not power grubbers.

Go back and watch the video of him taken from his left side. The skin on his neck is pristine like a 16 yo who hasn't hit puberty yet. Not a wrinkle, no signs of neck handing, signs of 50 years of shaving. M husband said he has had a face lift. I responded, you don't get skin like that at 80. It was bizarre!

I probably am an anomaly. I have not darkened the gateway of the Golden Arches (or any similar establishment) for well nigh 30 years now. I eat my greens and limit my intake of sugar. And I stay the heck away from processed foods. (God only knows what is in them. I remember that commercial where the little boy sings: "I wish I were an Oscar Meyer Wiener..." Some little boys might have actually become so. And that is even more likely now.)

The Comprehensive Forfeiture Act fixed all of these problems. The new bill was introduced by Senator Joe Biden in 1983 and it was signed into law the next year. With this law, federal agents had nearly unlimited powers to seize assets from private citizens. Now the government only needed to find a way to let local and state police join the party. This came with the 1984 Comprehensive Crime Control Act. In addition to a slew of new powers for prosecutors, the burden of proof for asset seizure was lowered once again (agents had to only believe that what they were seizing was equal in value to money believed to have been purchased from drug sales). More significantly, the bill started the “equitable sharing” program that allowed local and state law enforcement to retain up to 80 percent of the assets seized.

If Joe Biden really wanted to prosecute the "War on Drugs" he might have started with that very institution he lauded, the CIA, which was overseeing the pumping of cocaine into Los Angeles so that Kingpin Dealers like Freeway Ricky Ross could process it into the "crack" that was addicting millions. Rather, he was just an arm of the conspiracy, which imprisoned millions for their addiction, not that they were without fault, but, seriously, you imprison a man for five years for a victimless misdemeanor, while allowing those responsible for importing the raw materials to remain free and unpunished.
The "War on Drugs" was just a bonus for the conspiracy. It allowed for militarized police to metastasize into feared, irresistible institutions that trampled upon freedoms and inaugurated a "pax Romana" across the city streets of the great megalopolases. Mission accomplished. (And the "asset forfeiture" laws were the icing on the cake.)
Donald, while I can't argue with you, all of your pints are spot on, I do have a different take. Maybe this, the greatest political humiliation in modern western history, is his punishment for the shortcoming to which to you have highlighted? That may be the reality, however on the flip side of that position is our higher vibration, which leads the soul to compassion and disgust.
